UNITED KINGDOM – Not sure of what post-graduate degree to take? Why not consider Masters in Cyberpsychology with special interest in online gaming, gambling and dating?

starting this autumn, the UK’s Nottingham Trent University will offer the degree to students who will learn the psychology behind online behaviours in relation to gaming (MMORPGs), gambling and dating.

The new course is part of the NTU’s School of Social Sciences and was established in response to the growing relevance of digital technologies in modern daily living. Key topics of the course will include social networking, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, online relationships and online sexuality. Together, these will help students develop an understanding of how and why individuals behave in that manner withing the virtual realms.

According to course professor Dr. Monica Whitty:

“As well as being academically challenging with the possibility of students going on to do a PhD, the course has been designed with the needs of industry firmly in mind.”

The course will allow graduates a chance to get employment with those companies operating online businesses or divisions as well as those companies wanting to develop policies on internet usage in the workplace.

Dr. Whitty added that the course will also be “(I)deal for the self-employed who want to use information and communications technology in their business or those attempting to integrate it into employment or education.”
