BELGIUM – The small yet wealthy European nation has indicated that it may open its internal market to online gambling companies next year according to a recent market research report.
In their report, Markets and Research reveal that Belgium is one of the rising number of European gambling markets that have become open to foreign firms offering online gaming. Belgium currently has an open land-based betting and casino market and may be preparing to take this openness to the next level with online gambling.
The research firm further reported that Belgium’s Parliament is set to introduce new legislation this year to rationalize control of the Belgium National Lottery which will allow the state-owned gaming firm to operate online. The report further revealed that web-based gambling providers may be permitted to operate in the nation as early as 2009.
